Fulfilling the dual role of executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), Doug Mertzlufft manages the financial risks and opportunities which make it possible for Guarantee Electrical Co. to confidently optimize service to clients. As CFO, he oversees:

• banking relationships,
• bonding,
• financial reporting,
• insurance and
• purchasing.

Additionally, Mertzlufft manages the firm’s human resource and information technology operations. He is a member of the firm’s Executive Management Team and a member of its board of directors.

Mertzlufft joined Guarantee in 1993 as controller after recording nearly a decade of experience in industrial finance as:

• an accountant in the barge industry, and
• accounting manager for McCarthy Building Companies.

He became Guarantee’s CFO in 1994 and executive vice president in 2001.

As a certified public accountant (CPA), Mertzlufft is active in the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also participates in the Construction Financial Management Association and in the Specialty Contractors Council of the Associated General Contractors of St. Louis.

Mertzlufft earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
