WATERLOO, ILL. – St. Louis-based Guarantee Electrical has completed the $38 million, 227,000-square-foot Waterloo Community Unit School District No. 5 High School in Waterloo, Ill. The technologically advanced facility features 57 classrooms, three gymnasiums, a 462-seat auditorium, three vocational shops and a central courtyard with a pond and fountain.
The project showcases the advantages delivered to school districts through Guarantee’s innovative preconstruction planning. For example, to conserve energy and reduce long-term costs, Guarantee specified occupancy sensors in classrooms and gyms to automatically turn overhead lights off and on. It achieved further long-term savings by installing 54-watt T-5 fixtures with instant-on control panels in more than 20,000 square feet of gym space rather than the originally specified 400-watt bi-level fixtures.
Guarantee also installed the facility’s central power system as well as pro-sound and lighting systems in the auditorium.
St. Louis-based S.M. Wilson & Co. was the construction manager.
